T-Giving is an annual Thanksgiving potluck dinner for the transgender community and our friends, families, and allies. It is held on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The potluck dates back to the late 1990s. It was started by Brenda Thomas, a fierce advocate for transgender rights. Brenda’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, and she wanted transgender individuals who had been rejected by their families to have a warm, welcoming space to celebrate. When the TG Center closed in 2014, George Zemanek was determined to keep it going. In 2016 he got together with Kennedy Loftin at the Montrose Center and they, along with Don’L, Nova, Atlantis, Maleah, and a whole host of staff and volunteers helped the dinner grow into what it is today. The pandemic didn’t slow us down. In 2020 and 2021, we held a drive through dinner with entertainment. This year we were so happy to be together in person again.
