Statement from our Social Chair, Myles Steelman
“On March 20th, I traveled to Austin with Equality Texas to fight for trans rights at the capitol. I represented TMAH and rallied on the capitol steps with my wife as multiple speakers vocalized the importance of trans and LGBTQIA+ rights. I led my group in speaking to state senators and representatives and we focused primarily on the importance of protecting healthcare for trans youth and passing anti-discrimination laws for things such as places of employment. It was powerful to be surrounded by so many trans folks and allies and have our voices be heard by both those wanting to protect us and those who would want to harm us. It wad a truly rewarding experience like no other I have ever had. We all worked together to make a difference, but the work doesn’t end here. Let’s all band together and keep fighting!”
